American Speech and Debate Association fall writing competition seeks to promote excellence in writing.  Excellent writing contributes to excellent speaking and debating.  ASDA invites all youth ages 8-18 to participate.  

Entries must be original works written by youth ages 8-18.  There are two categories: ‘Original’ and ‘Values and Faith.’  Each entrant can submit up to one entry per category, for a maximum of 2 submissions.   Entries will be accepted through the ASDA website from October 15 through December 1. 

No entry fee is required.  All rights to the essay remain the property of the entrant.

Winners will be announced at the January ASDA tournament.  Cash prizes of up to $100 will be awarded in each category and in each group.  Honorable mentions, special superlative awards, and other recognitions will also be awarded based on the discretion of our panel of judges.
